smiley for miley

I have mixed feelings about Miley Cyrus. Sometimes I will like the music but not the artist, and other times I will like the artist (for who they are as a person and what they stand for), but not their music. Miley Cyrus is one of those artists where I don't know if I like her as a person, and I don't know if I like her music.

Miley's an interesting character and has had her share of bad publicity which, for the most part, she's to blame for. But don't get me wrong because every once in a while she will release a great catchy song, and I do have to commend her for doing her part (in her own way) to help the community. Even if her campaign with Marc Jacobs, Protect The Skin You're In, is just another ploy to get naked for all to see. After watching the young star make out with sledge hammers, perform on stage wearing what I can only comment are not clothes, and taking foam fingers to a whole new level, Miley is either a very eccentric young adult, or the smartest business woman in the music industry.

After listening to her new album, Bangerz, I couldn't help but be disappointed with the musicality of each song considering the hype and excitement surrounding the fourth studio album. That being said, it was hard not to like the track, #Getitright with its funky melody and flirty lyrics. A traditionally written pop song, the track is nothing but catchy and fun to listen to. But when someone like Pharrell helps you produce a song, it's hard to go wrong especially since he's been involved with this year's top summer anthems like Get Lucky and Blurred Lines.

Let me know your thoughts on Miley and the track, below in the comments!
